School was cancelled on Friday for the snowy/icy weather. Michael's work closes on days when school is cancelled, so he had the whole day off, too. We spent the day sleeping in, working out, organizing paperwork and of course playing Wii. On Saturday morning we realized that the kids needed to get out and get rid of some energy. We went out to lunch at Chik-Fil-A which is a very "Lubbock thing to do." I had never been there before we moved here. People in Lubbock love that place, and it is busy all day and all night long. After lunch we visited the local science museum--The Science Spectrum. It's a hands-on science place for kids. We brought Allie's friend Isa with us also. I got to really use my new camera for the first time. I still don't know how to use it, I just kept trying different settings to see what they did. Oh well, it's all part of learning! I did learn how to use its video feature which is handy, and I think it takes better video than our camcorder!
Michael was so impressed that the teeth looked like real teeth (aka "anatomically correct"). Apparently, in many exhibits like this the anatomy of the teeth is not true to life. Only a dentist would notice.
Suddenly everyone notices that they are in a giant mouth about to be eaten. Michael is just happy that it's a healthy mouth with well formed teeth.
How many hours could Luke spend making paths for the water?
As many hours as Kate could play with a steady stream of water.
Kate contemplates her next move
The future Dr. Melanson
Perhaps another doctor in the making
Allie and Isa were taking turns trying to find out who had the biggest brain. Two future doctors.
I wish we had a chair like this in our house.
Kate wasn't too sure about being stuck up on the wall.
Good friends
