Luke Melanson: Slave to the Oven Timer

Luke Melanson: Slave to the oven timer

This shot of Luke reminded me of one of my favorite Far Side cartoons. He sat on a little stool in front of the oven and watched and waited the entire time they were baking.

A Piano for Allie

When we moved from the farm into the city, we sold our piano to have space. Allie was so sad to say goodbye. We borrowed a keyboard (Thanks Jen!) but with our new move needed something again. So on Labor Day we got her a piano. (Actually it's for the whole family, but she's the one who plays it everyday.) It's a digital piano, but has nice sound and a great feel. The cool part too is that she can connect it to my laptop and work on her Garageband creations. It's small and has HEADPHONES.

Luke's Birthday!

Luke requested chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.
Luke had his 6th birthday last week. He got to plan the menu for the day and loved it.

In the morning, he woke up to find a basketball hoop that we got him. At first he didn't seem to excited, but now he LOVES it and plays everyday. Michael and I even played a great game of horse on it after putting it together. Although it looked stunning in the living room, it is now an outside toy.

Then came rainbow cupcakes at school. In Texas you can bring in homemade treats. So cool! The rainbow cupcakes were a hit with the kindergartners. Luke has officially completed his "cool" profile. Sitting next to him is his good little friend Jude. They've already had several play dates. Luke thinks he's neat because his name sounds like "dude" They are such good little buddies that I'm anxious to see how long they get to sit next to each other!
For lunch I picked up McDonalds and met him at school for lunch. And of course, his most favorite food of all for dinner: Tostadas. We had friends over for swimming and ice cream cake (Thank you Aunt Peggy!)
