Perks

Allie has learned that there are some perks to having to share a room with your little sister who is too afraid of monsters to sleep in her own room. I found this video on the Flip we gave the kids for Christmas.

Sunbeam

So Kate's a Sunbeam now! (that's the 4yr old class at church) That means that she gets to go to Primary with the big kids at church and she thinks that is pretty cool. She's pretty excited about it and has lots of little friends in her class. She tells us all the time that she is not a baby and she wants to be "big like Allie and Lukie"

So I would say that we no longer have anyone in nursery, but that is not true. Michael was just called to work in the nursery so we still have someone in there. But all three kids are now in Primary!

Trust

Okay, so I know this picture is blurry--it's because I was laughing so hard. I was taking the kids' picture for a project and thought I would try this fancy pose that I saw the photographer do. Apparently Kate thought she was going to be dropped.

Sleeping

This last week Kate has had a hard time going to bed. For some reason, a few nights she thought the "stay in bed" rules just didn't apply to her. So she came downstairs and hung out in the living room until she finally fell asleep. (which was like 10:30) Luckily on night 3, she went to bed in her own bed at bedtime. Weird!
Here's what she looked like on night 1:

And her is what she looked like on night 2:

New Year's Eve

We spent New Years Eve with the always fun Pete and Julie Melanson family. It was a night full of games, Rockband, and the Melanson favorite- "See if you have outgrown your aunt or uncle" Seriously, Connor is getting so tall! The kids always look forward to staying up late. This year, they all made it (even Kate)  until the adults called it quits at 1 am. It was a great night with some of out most favorite people. Thanks Pete and Julie!

Even Kate got to play Rockband!

Late church

With all of our moving, it seems like we have been on the early schedule (8:30 or 9) for church for the last 4 years. For the last couple of months our entire family has been counting the weeks until the new year and our new "late" church. To celebrate, we slept in and made pancakes for breakfast. Maybe in the future we will put the time to better use, but yesterday,  we indulged.

Kate helping me make "pancakies" after dressing herself. Those are her two favorite skirts so she went with the ingenious plan to wear them both. She really wanted to wear that get up to church.
Lately she wants to help me cook everything. She is especially good at cracking the eggs. No surprise there.
You will also notice that the goose is a stand in for Baby Elmo. Baby Elmo was lost, but now is found. He disappeared in a friend's church bag last week and was reunited with Kate yesterday. It was a long week. Kate kept saying he was playing hide and seek and we were worried he was lost forever. Lucky that goose (she calls it Duck) was there to fill in.

It's official...we're headed for Austin, TX (in July)

One thing that I left off the "December Happenings" post is that Michael committed to a job in Austin, TX when he finishes his residency in June. It's kind of big deal and has been the result of a lot of work and prayers.
So, it looks like we will become Texans for the long haul. He found a great doctor and practice to work with and we think it will be a great thing for our little family.  I didn't see this part of Austin, but it looks cool to me so that's how I will think of Austin until I get there.
